KEY ISSUES
In 2024, the Utah Immigration Advocacy Coalition plans to focus on these two key policy issues to continue creating a welcoming state for all, regardless of status.
-
Education
Education is a key foundation for immigrants and their families seeking economic stability and upward mobility. The coalition has several education partners and wants to ensure that immigrant students, regardless of where they were born, can get the education they need.
We will continue to uplift and support K-12 and Higher Education Systems policies that ensure all students are welcomed and supported regardless of their immigration status.
-
Workforce & Entrepreneurship
Our coalition recognizes that immigrants play a vital role in our economic success. With the proper resources, support, and policy changes, Utah can open more doors for immigrants to continue contributing to our state’s local economy, especially in business and entrepreneurship. Additionally, the coalition will continue to research and support policies that support internationally trained immigrant and refugee professionals.

Priority Project:
DACA Contingency Planning:
If DACA were to end, approximately 7,030 DACA recipients would be in limbo and uncertain about what programs and resources are available. This year, we want to extend our efforts to ensure DACA recipients, mixed-status families, and other undocumented families are aware of the resources available to them and their relatives.
